ZEBULON, N.C. (June 14, 2015) - Jake Peter's RBI double broke a ninth-inning tie and pushed his hitting streak to 17 games in the Dash's 5-2, series-clinching win over Carolina at Five County Stadium on Sunday night.

Ethan Wilson led off the ninth with a single and advanced to second on an Adam Engel sacrifice bunt. Peter stepped to the plate without a hit in his first four at-bats. He had extended his hit streak, the longest in the Carolina League, in the opening frame in each of the last three contests.

Peter lashed an RBI double beyond the reach of Carolina right fielder Sean Godfrey in the alley, and Wilson cruised home to give Winston-Salem (27-35) the lead for good. Peter's hit streak is the longest by a Dash hitter since Marcus Semien's 18-game run in 2012.

The Dash were not done in the ninth inning. Two batters later, Jeremy Dowdy bounced one on the right side, and a short hop ate up third baseman Reed Harper for an error, which allowed Peter to score. Toby Thomas capped the three-run frame with a sharp single to left to chase home Dowdy.

During Carolina's half of the ninth, Michael Ynoa blazed through the side in order for his second save of 2015. This clinched the Dash's first road series win since April 23-26 at Myrtle Beach.

Ynoa, who had not pitched since May 16, continued the great relief work that Brian Clark (2-2) started. Clark spun three hitless innings, during which he whiffed four Mudcats.

Carolina (30-32) grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the second thanks to RBI singles from Johan Camargo and Sean Godfrey. However, the Dash knotted the contest in the fourth. Chris Jacobs and Dowdy strung together consecutive hits, and Nolan Earley plated both on a single.

Both starters gritted through the relentless heat on Sunday. Dash righty Robinson Leyer worked five innings and gave up the Mudcats' lone two tallies. Mudcats southpaw Yean Carlos Gil tossed five and two-thirds innings and also permitted two runs. Caleb Dirks entered in the sixth and held the Dash scoreless through the eighth before Winston-Salem broke through against Andy Otero (0-2)

The Dash will try to play spoiler as they start a three-game series with first-place Myrtle Beach on Monday. The Pelicans lead Salem by three games in the race for the Southern Division's first-half title. In Monday's 7 p.m. opener, Winston-Salem sends Jake Cose (2-2, 2.37 ERA) to the bump against fellow righty Daury Torrez (4-4, 4.12 ERA). Pregame coverage begins on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn App at 6:45 p.m.

The Dash conclude the first half of the 2015 season with seven straight days at BB&T Ballpark. This exciting homestand includes an All-You-Can-Eat Night on Tuesday, a Fireworks Friday and Saturday and a pregame concert by The Baseball Project on Father's Day.
