
Sever Homers But Hillcats Fall, 7-1

Joe Sever homered for the second-straight night in the third inning, but the Hillcats did not register a hit for the rest of the evening, as Myrtle Beach scored seven unanswered runs to claim the series finale, 7-1, at TicketReturn.com Field Sunday night.
SEVER DOES IT AGAIN
For the second consecutive night, Sever hit a home run. This time his solo homer lead off the third inning to give Lynchburg a 1-0 advantage, but the Hillcats' only baserunner for the remainder of the contest came when Luigi Rodriguez reached on an error in the sixth. Sever, who has six home runs and 26 RBIs for the year, finished the series with two home runs and six RBIs.
HOME RUN SPARKS PELICANS
In the bottom of the fourth, Chesny Young singled for the Pelicans before Victor Caratini homered to left field to put Myrtle Beach on top, 2-1. The Pelicans added four runs on four hits in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI double by Jacob Rogers. In the sixth, Trey Martin singled, and Mark Zagunis doubled him home to give the Pelicans their seventh and final run of the evening.
MARTINEZ SHUTS DOWN HILLCATS
Jonathan Martinez only surrendered four baserunners in six innings and improved to 5-1 on the year. Fernando Cruz tossed a perfect seventh with a strikeout, and James Pugliese struck out one and retired all six batters he faced to end the game.
KEEPING UP WITH THE 'CATS
Joe Sever had a stretch earlier this year where he hit three home runs in four games and has now homered in back-to-back games for the second time this season...The Hillcats have had a four-game winning streak on four different occasions this season and are 0-4 when trying to extend it to a five-game winning streak...Lynchburg had a chance to be above .500 for the first time since April 11 but instead fell to 31-32 on the season.
