Perry Goes the Distance in 6-1 Sens Win

The Senators snapped their four-game losing streak on Friday night in Erie with a 6-1 win. Ryan Perry pitched a complete game, his first and the Sens fourth, and moved to 2-3 on the season. Perry allowed a single run on eight hits in the game and helped himself by delivering four double-play balls.

Offensively the Senators erupted for 13 hits including a season-high six doubles. Two different times in the game the Senators had three consecutive hits, the first time since August 1st that they accomplished that feat.

In the second inning, Tim Pahuta doubled in Jimmy VanOstrand with two outs, giving the Sens a 1-0 lead. In the third, three straight hits, and then a fourth hit, produced three runs giving Harrisburg a 4-0 lead. The Sens added another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Jose Lozada giving Harrisburg a 5-0 lead.

Three consecutive two out hits in the seventh produced their sixth and final run of the evening.

Jimmy VanOstrand had three hits and drove in two runs. Pahuta had two doubles in the game and Destin Hood along with Seth Bynum both had two hits in the contest. VanOstrand and Pahuta both had two doubles. Pahuta, Hood and Bynum all drove in runs with two out hits.

Perry received double plays in the third, sixth, seventh and ninth innings to keep Erie at bay. The only run he allowed was on a Nick Castellanos home run leading off the fourth inning. He allowed two hits in the ninth but induced Avisail Garcia into a game-ending double play. He struck out just two and walked only one in the game.

Game two of the three game series is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. LH Danny Rosenbaum is on the hill for the Sens against RH James Avery for Erie. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show.
