SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will aim for their second straight win when they take on the Binghamton Mets in the opener of a three-game set at NYSEG Stadium tonight. Last night, Richmond scored twice in the top of the third inning on an RBI double from Mark Minicozzi and an RBI single by Ehire Adrianza, which snapped a 1-1 tie, and the Flying Squirrels got outstanding pitching from starter Chris Gloor, and reliever Daryl Maday. in a 3-1 win over New Britain. Gloor (3-4) allowed just one run in six innings pitched to earn the win and Maday tossed three scoreless frames to pick up his 10th save. Adrianza extended his hit streak to 12 games. With the win, the Squirrels avoided getting swept by New Britain and the team remains four games behind Bowie in the race for the Western Division wild-card. The Flying Squirrels went 3-3 against Binghamton in 2011 including a 2-1 mark at The Diamond. Richmond is 7-9 all-time against the B-Mets and the club is 3-3 all-time at NYSEG Stadium. The two teams will meet six times in 2012, three times in Binghamton and three times in Richmond.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: RHP Craig Westcott vs. LHP Mark Cohoon Westcott: Makes his twenty-fifth start of the season for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Westcott allowed nine hits and fi ve earned runs along with three walks and two strikeouts in five innings pitched against Bowie Saturday. He took the loss in Richmond's 6-4 setback. Tonight's game will be Westcott's second career start against Binghamton. He is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA against the B-Mets. Westcott is currently third in the Eastern League in innings pitched (143.0). After splitting the 2010 season between Advanced-A San Jose and Richmond, Westcott spent the entire 2011 campaign back in San Jose. Westcott enjoyed a banner year in the California League as he posted a 13-4 record with a 3.42 ERA in 25 appearances, including 24 starts. His 13 wins tied for the most in the Cal League and he finished fourth in the circuit in ERA (3.42). As a result, Westcott was named both a Mid- Season and Postseason All-Star. He was also a Mid-Season All-Star in the Cal League in 2010 after going 6-0 with a miniscule 1.83 ERA in 13 starts with San Jose before being promoted to Richmond. Westcott did not enjoy the same level of success with the Flying Squirrels however, as he compiled a 3-3 mark with a 5.13 ERA in the second half of the season. He owns a record of 39-16 with a 3.49 ERA in 89 career minor league appearances, including 81 starts. The Chalmette, LA native was selected by the Giants in the 30th round of the 2009 June Draft out of Belhaven (MS) College.

Cohoon: Makes his twenty-second start of the season and his twentieth for Binghamton tonight. Cohoon began the season with Binghamton and he posted a 3-7 record with a 4.11 ERA in 12 starts. He was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo in late June and he went 0-1 with a 14.62 ERA in two starts. In his last start, Since returning to Binghamton in early July, Cohoon has posted a 4-1 record with a 2.44 ERA. The southpaw split the 2011 season between Binghamton and Buffalo. He went 1-3 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts with the B-Mets. In 18 starts with Buffalo, Cohoon went 4-11 with a 6.11 ERA. Tonight's game will be his second career start against the Flying Squirrels. He is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA against Richmond. Cohoon boasts a career record of 36-33 with a 3.71 ERA in 101 appearances, including 98 starts. Cohoon was originally selected by New York in the 12th round of the 2008 June Draft out of North Central Texas College, a junior college in Gainesville, Texas.

EXCELLENT EHIRE: Richmond shortstop Ehire Adrianza kept his hit streak alive by going 1-for-4 with an RBI against the Rock Cats Thursday. Adrianza has now hit safely in twelve consecutive games, which matches Gary Brown for the second-longest hit streak by a Flying Squirrels batter this season. He is hitting .313 (15-for-48) with five doubles, a triple and five runs scored during the streak.

MAGNIFICENT MADAY: Richmond reliever Daryl Maday has pitched very well in August. In three appearances this month, Maday is 0-0 with one save and he has yet to allow a run (6.2 innings pitched). Additionally, he has allowed three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters in August. Maday tossed three scoreless frames and earned his 10th save of the season in last night's 3-1 win at New Britain.

CLOSE CALLS: With a 3-1 win over New Britain last night, Richmond improved to 13-11 in two-run games this season. Richmond ranks third in the Eastern league in wins in two-run games behind Bowie (20) and Reading (17). Additionally, the Flying Squirrels are 24-21 in one-run games in 2012. The Flying Squirrels are 37-32 in games decided by two runs or less and nearly 56 percent of their games have been decided by two runs or less.

THE REAL DON JUAN: One night after his 18-game hit streak came to an end, Juan Perez went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored at New Britain. In his last ten games, Perez is batting .425 (17-for-40) with four doubles, a triple and five RBIs.
