
Baysox Leave Thunder Struck

Trenton, NJ - The Bowie Baysox (67-58) pounded out a season high 12 runs to beat the Trenton Thunder (72-53) 12-6 on Friday night.
Buck Britton led the way with a grand slam and five runs batted in and Robbie Widlansky equaled a season high with four hits and also knocked in three runs.
The Baysox got the scoring started in the top of the first inning. Antoan Richardson led off the game by drawing a walk and then scored on an RBI double by Ty Kelly to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Thunder took the lead right back. With two outs and a runner on, Luke Murton hit his 23rd home run of the season to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead.
The Baysox evened up the game up the game in the third inning. With two outs, three straight players reached to load up the bases. Britton then drew a four pitch walk to force in the tying run and make the score 2-2.
In the bottom of the third, the Thunder again answered back. Adonis Garcia led off with a double and then with one out scored on an RBI single by Zoilo Almonte to make the score 3-2.
The Baysox broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning by scoring six runs. They loaded up the bases with no one out and then Rhyne Hughes reached on an infield single to knock in the game tying run. Britton then followed with a grand slam to clear the bases. It was his third straight game with a home run. Jonathan Schoop then capped the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to give the Baysox an 8-3 lead.
Rob Segedin got one back for the Thunder in the sixth with a two-out RBI single to make the score 8-4.
In the seventh the Baysox scored three more runs to open up a seven-run lead. The scoring started when Ronnie Welty scored on a passed ball and then later in the inning, Widlansky hit a two-run single to make the score 11-4.
Murton hit his second home run of the game in the eighth inning to make the score 11-6.
In the ninth, Widlansky picked up his fourth hit of the game with an RBI double that gave the Baysox a 12-6 lead.
Mike Wright got the win going six innings and allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Andy Loomis pitched the final three innings to get the save.
The loss went to Dellin Betances who went four innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
The series will continue tomorrow with LHP Jake Pettit (8-3, 4.32) getting the start against the Thunder LHP Vidal Nuno (7-4, 2.57).
The Baysox will return home on August 23 for an eight-game homestand that will be their final homestand of the 2012 regular season.
