Peoria Snuffs Heat 5-1

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - The Peoria Rivermen would get three goals in less than three minutes in the second period of play to roll to a 5-1 victory over the Abbotsford Heat in AHL action Tuesday night at the Abbotsford Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The Peoria Rivermen would open the scoring at 4:06 of the first with forward T.J. Hensick making it a 1-0 game for the visitors. Abbotsford would respond at 13:03 of the first period, as Gaelan Patterson would tie up the game at one's heading into the second period of play.

Peoria would pull ahead in the second with Brett Sonne and Graham Mink making it a 3-1 game at 11:42 and 12:04 of the middle period chasing Heat goaltender Leland Irving from the pipes. With back up J.P. Lamoureux in net, Peoria would add a power play marker at 14:32 with Prince George's Nicholas Drazenovic giving his team a three goal lead going into the final frame.

Rivermen defenseman Nikita Nikitin would add another power play marker at 8:54 of the third to make it a final score of 5-1 Peoria over the Abbotsford Heat Tuesday night at the AESC.

The Abbotsford Heat will look to rebound against the Peoria Rivermen tomorrow, Wednesday January 18th. Puck drops at 7:00pm at the AESC.
