Chicago Wolves News Release
The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled forwards NIGEL DAWES and TIM STAPLETON from the Chicago Wolves, and reassigned right wing SPENCER MACHACEK to Chicago.
DAWES has tallied seven goals and 11 points in his last eight outings, which includes matching a team-season high six-game point streak from Jan. 1 to Jan. 14, and racking up seven goals and 10 points during that span. He was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week on Jan. 10, after becoming the third player in Wolves history to score four goals in a single game in Chicago's 9-3 defeat of the Toronto Marlies on Jan. 5.
The 25-year-old forward paces Chicago and shares first in the American Hockey League with 21 goals, and ranks third on the Wolves and is tied for 11th in the league with 36 points in 40 games this season.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native appeared in six outings with Atlanta earlier this year, and spent last season with the NHL's Calgary Flames, where he recorded 32 points (14G, 18A) in 66 contests. Overall, he has amassed 44 assists and 83 points in 205 career NHL outings spanning five seasons with the New York Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes, Flames and Thrashers (2006 to present.)
STAPLETON has tallied four points (G, 3A) in four games with the Wolves and eight goals and 15 points in 20 contests with the San Antonio Rampage in AHL action this year. The 28-year-old forward has also appeared 11 games with Atlanta this season since being signed by the team on Nov. 30, accruing two penalty minutes.
Overall, STAPLETON has registered three goals in 21 NHL games with Atlanta and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 162 points (67G, 95A) in 176 AHL outings with the Wolves, Rampage, Toronto Marlies and Portland Pirates.
MACHACEK skated in four matchups with Atlanta after being recalled on Jan. 9. He shares second on Chicago with 14 goals and ranks fifth with 33 points in 39 contests this season. He is also tied for first on the squad with a +14 plus/minus rating.
The Wolves visit the Grand Rapids Griffins for a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a matchup on Friday at 6 p.m.
