Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, IL (February 14, 2006) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that the Rivermen parent club St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL) has reassigned three players. Goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu (BEHK-fuhrd-SOO) moves from the ECHL Alaska Aces to the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League (AHL), while center Ryan Ramsay (RAM-zee) and defenseman Patrick Wellar (WEHL-uhr) head to Alaska from Peoria. McDonald also announced that the Rivermen have returned forward Cam Keith (KEETH) and goaltender Matt Underhill (UHN-duhr-hihl) on loan to the Alaska Aces.
Beckford-Tseu, 21, joins the Rivermen for the fourth time this season. The 6-2, 201-pound netminder has made only three appearances for Peoria so far this season, posting a 1-1-0 record, a 4.76 goals-against average, and an .833 save percentage. In 19 games played for Alaska in 2005-06, the Toronto native has put up an ECHL-best 16-1-2 record and 1.87 goals-against average to go along with the second-highest save percentage in that league of .929.
Ramsay, 22, is off for his second stint in Alaska this season. Earlier in 2005-06, the 5-11, 200-pound product of Ajax, Ontario, produced 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) and 28 penalty minutes in 13 games played as an Ace.
Wellar, 22, has spent most of this season with the Aces. The 6-3, 210-pound defenseman out of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, has skated in 30 ECHL tilts for Alaska and recorded three goals, eight assists, and 54 minutes in penalties.
Keith, 25, rejoins the Aces for his third tour of duty in Alaska this season. A 6-3, 214-pound forward from Nelson, British Columbia, he has seen action in 36 games as an Ace this year and collected 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) and 20 penalty minutes.
Underhill, 26, returns to Alaska following his first-ever stint in Peoria. Although he did not log any time in the Rivermen net, the 6-2, 225-pound goalie out of Campbell River, British Columbia, has played in 30 contests for the Aces this season, registering a 23-6-1 record, a 2.16 goals-against average, and a .922 save percentage.
The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
