
Penn Murfee Throws Complete Game Shutout of Tulsa

North Little Rock, AR - Penn Murfee went the distance for a nine inning complete game shutout as the Arkansas Travelers beat the Tulsa Drillers, 2-0 on Friday night at Dickey-Stephens Park in front of a crowd of 5,118. It was the Travelers fourth consecutive win. Murfee limited the Drillers to only three hits and allowed just seven total baserunners throwing 109 pitches, 70 for strikes. His nine innings pitched and 11 strikeouts were both career highs. Joe Rizzo drove in both runs, the first on a bases loaded walk and the other on a double in the eighth inning.
Moments That Mattered
* Rizzo's double in the eighth capped a run of three straight hits starting with Jake Scheiner and Brian O'Keefe and gave Murfee and the Travs a much needed insurance run.
* Murfee hit consecutive batters with one out in the ninth but came back to strike out Carlos Rincon and Jeren Kendall to end the game, both on called third strikes.
