
Apostel Homers Twice, Riders Win Thriller in Extras

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders came back late and eventually took down the Corpus Christi Hooks 10-8 in 11 innings on Friday night from Whataburger Field.
Trailing 7-4 entering the ninth inning, the RoughRiders (24-16) exploded offensively. Steele Walker plated two with a single to center to cut it to a one-run deficit before Sherten Apostel cracked his second home run of the night, a two-run blast, putting the Riders out in front 8-7.
The Hooks (18-22) then scored in the bottom of the ninth with a tally that came across on an error, tying the game at 8-8 and sending it into extra innings.
After an uneventful 10th, the Riders scored twice in the 11th. First Bubba Thompson scored on an error before Josh Stowers crossed home on a wild pitch to make it 10-8.
Jordan Procyshen (1-1), a normal position player, took the win on the mound for Frisco, throwing two shutout innings.
Devin Conn (0-1) was handed the loss, ceding two unearned runs in his Double-A debut.
At the beginning of the game, Corpus Christi started the scoring in the first on a David Hensley double to make it 1-0.
Norel Gonzalez and Jake Adams each added RBI singles in the second to put the Hooks up 3-0 and Hensley ripped a fourth-inning RBI single to make it 4-0.
Two more runs came across for Corpus Christi in the fifth on a Scott Manea RBI double and Corey Julks added a RBI single of his own to put the Hooks up 6-0.
The RoughRiders then stormed back, scoring four in the sixth. Stowers singled home a run before Apostel jacked a three-run homer to draw Frisco within 6-4.
After a Ross Adolph solo homer for Corpus in the seventh, the Riders made it a game again in the ninth.
The RoughRiders continue their series with game six against the Hooks on Saturday, June 19th with a 7:05 p.m. start. Frisco will send RHP Ronny Henriquez (0-0, 12.00) to the mound against RHP Brett Daniels (0-3, 9.64).
