Penalty-Kill Unit Leads San Antonio to 4-2 Victory over Cleveland

SAN ANTONIO - Chris Butler's second-period goal lifted the San Antonio Rampage (14-10-2-0) 4-2 over the Cleveland Monsters (8-10-2-2) on Thursday at the AT&T Center.

San Antonio got out to an early lead 56 seconds into the game when A.J. Greer forced a turnover in the Monsters' zone and fired a shot between the legs of netminder Ivan Kulbakov. Dominic Toninato recorded a shorthanded goal at 7:51 after he received a pass from Adam Musil and sent the puck into the cage. Cleveland cut into the lead at 12:01 when Miles Koules fired a shot from the right circle past Rampage goaltender Ville Husso.

Nick Moutrey evened the game at two 5:51 into the second stanza after forcing a turnover that lead to an unassisted shorthanded goal. Butler regained the lead for the Rampage at the 9:10 minute mark, when he finished a backdoor pass from Tage Thompson. The remainder of the period went scoreless as the Rampage took a 3-2 advantage into the second intermission.

Samuel Blais sealed a victory for the Rampage with a power-play goal 17:51 into the final period after he collected a rebound and sent the puck past Kulbakov. San Antonio held Cleveland scoreless the final 34 minutes of play, limiting the Monsters to nine shots on goal in the final two periods.
