Minnesota Wild Recalls Goalie Steve Michalek from Iowa

Iowa recalls goaltender Christian Frey from Rapid City
DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced Thursday the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Steve Michalek (pronounced MIKE-ah-lick) under emergency conditions from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Michalek, 24 (8/6/93), is 6-1-2 with a 2.52 goals-against average (GAA) and a .926 save percentage (SV%) in nine games with Iowa this season. He ranks T-9th in the AHL in SV% and 14th in GAA. The 6-foot-3, 194-pound native of Hartford, Conn., is 26-20-5 with a 2.61 GAA, a .918 SV% and one shutout in 53 career AHL contests with Iowa.
From November 9 through November 24, Michalek tied his own franchise record with four consecutive victories, allowing just seven total goals over that span. The former Harvard University goalie was originally selected by the Wild in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Michalek has not appeared in a NHL game and will wear sweater No. 31 with Minnesota.
In addition, Iowa Wild General Manager Brent Flahr announced the club has recalled goaltender Christian Frey (FRY) from the Rapid City Rush, Iowa's ECHL affiliate.
Frey, 24 (6/12/93), has appeared in seven games with the Rush this season. The Arlington, TX native spent four seasons at Ohio State University prior to turning pro. Frey also skated in 15 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) during the 2011-12 campaign. He will wear jersey No. 37 with Iowa.
Iowa Wild is on the road in Milwaukee against the Admirals on Friday, De c. 15 at 7 p.m. and in Chicago for a tilt with the Wolves on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.
