McINTYRE's FIRST SHUTOUT PUSHES P-BRUIN WIN STREAK

Hershey, PA - The Providence Bruins shutout the Hershey Bears Wednesday night 3-0, pushing their win streak to a season-high eight games. The P-Bruins got goals from Colton Hargrove, Anton Blidh and Zach Senyshyn while Zane McIntyre made his 15th start of the season in net.
Providence thought they jumped out to an early lead, but referees ruled that Chris Porter scored via a high stick and disallowed his goal. The P-Bruins did eventually score first thanks to a power play opportunity. Austin Czarnik sent the puck to Jordan Szwarz at the right goalline and he quickly sent a centering pass to Hargrove alone in front. His one-timer beat Vitek Vanecek for his eighth goal of the season as Providence entered the intermission up 1-0.
The second period was a frustrating one for the Bears, as they had three power plays but failed to capitalize on any of them. They also outshot Providence 11-4 in the period, but it was the P-Bruins that led 1-0 after 40 minutes of action. The offense finally gave Providence some breathing room, and it was Hargrove again making things happen. After winning a puck battle in the defensive zone, Hargrove started a 2-on-1 break with Blidh. Blidh blasted a one-timer of Hargrove's centering pass for his fourth goal of the season to extend the lead to 2-0.
Just 1:35 later, the P-Bruins got some breathing room on Senyshyn's fourth goal of the year which proved to be the final nail in the coffin. McIntyre did the rest in net, stopping every Hershey opportunity for his first shutout of the season. It was his fifth straight win between the pipes as the P-Bruins extended their winning streak to a season-long eight games.
McIntyre stopped all 28 shots he faced while Vanecek stopped 17 of 20. Providence was 1-2 on the power play and 4-4 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins continue their eight-game road trip Friday when they take on the team that ended their 2017 Calder Cup run. The club travels to Syracuse for the only time this season as they take on the Crunch at 7pm.
The Providence Bruins are the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Boston Bruins, playing their home games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI. Spanning more than 25 years, the Boston/Providence affiliation is one of the longest and most successful player development partnerships in professional hockey history.
