San Diego Gulls News Release
San Diego erased a third period deficit for the second consecutive game with three unanswered goals in the final period to earn a 5-3 win over the Stockton Heat at Valley View Casino Center. The victory marked the fifth comeback win of the season for San Diego, and the third when trailing after two periods. The Gulls have now won four of their last five games (4-1-0-0).
Ryan White recorded his second consecutive multi-point game with a season high three points (1-23).
Center Sam Carrick earned his first three-point game of the season (1-23) and first since earning 1-23 points on Dec. 23, 2014 at St. John's (with Toronto). Carrick has earned 10 points (2-810) his last 10 games.
Kevin Boyle stopped 16-of-17 shots in 39:54 of relief of Reto Berra (illness) to earn his sixth win of the season. Boyle has won his last three home starts, posting a 2.18 goals-against average and .933 save percentage.

POSTGAME QUOTES

Sam Carrick
On the win
It was great. We have kind of been on a bit of a role here. We are confident group right now. To get a win like that, to be down a couple of goals, it was just a great character win by our team. Our power play stepped up, our (penalty kill) was good, it was just a fun win.
On building momentum from a successful road trip
Spending a few days on the road helps for sure to bring the group together. We believe in each other, especially when we are down a couple of goals we know we are always in the fight no matter what. That just goes to show you what kind of group we have here. We are not going to give up no matter how many goals we are down. To get a couple of come-from-behind wins, it's great for our group, especially coming into Christmas and going into the playoff stretch.
On playing physical
We put our heads down and went to work. When things got escalated there we answered the bell. (James) Melindy had a couple good fights there, even (Deven) Sideroff stepped up. I think that brings our group together a little bit when guys stick up for each other and get the energy going.
Kevin Boyle
On entering the game unexpectedly
Every night you need to make sure you are ready to go no matter. I did everything right from when I woke up this morning so I was ready for it.
On the win
It was huge. We could tell it was going to be chippy. It's always chippy against these guys. I think we had some good momentum from the past couple games. It was nice to keep it going.
On facing Stockton Saturday
Saturday is a whole new day, whole new game. We have to come out the next couple of days and have some good practices, work hard, just keep that momentum going.
Head Coach Dallas Eakins
On the game
Obviously lots of emotion in a game against Stockton. They are one of the top teams on our side. Berra came in, wasn't feeling well. Kevin (Boyle) had to jump right in the fire. I thought Kevin played extremely well and I thought our players held the line. There was a lot of physicality in the game. There was a lot of verbal interaction between the two teams, between the two benches. I was proud of our guys the way they held the line.
On facing Stockton Saturday
No. 1 you have to rest. You can't just keep running on full tilt here. We will get some rest. They are coming right back in here. There won't be a lot of time to forget about this game and I'm sure Saturday night's game will look a lot like this one.
