Coyotes Recall Merkley from Tucson

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Arizona Coyotes President of Hockey Operations and General Manager John Chayka announced today that the Coyotes have recalled forward Nick Merkley from the Tucson Roadrunners, the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The 20-year-old Merkley has registered 12-12-24 with 12 penalty minutes (PIM) in 20 games with Tucson and is second on the team in scoring. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound first-year forward ranks third in points and is second in goals among AHL rookies. Merkley has collected at least one point in 14 of 20 games with the Roadrunners.

The Calgary, AB native recorded 85-174-259 and 242 PIM in 245 career games with the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 2014-15, Merkley led the team in scoring with 20-70-90 in 72 games and helped the Rockets win the WHL championship.

Merkley was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (30th overall) of the 2015 Entry Draft.
