Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Lubbock, Texas - The Rocky Mountain Rage battled penalty trouble all game long, facing 15 shorthanded situations that led to three power play goals, as they were defeated by the Lubbock Cotton Kings, 3-0, at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum.

The first power play goal came at 14:43 of the first period when the Cotton Kings worked the puck around the offensive zone to find Stacey Bauman alone in the slot, who finished into the upper right hand corner.

Down 1-0 into the second, Rocky Mountain had at least one man in the penalty box for 17 minutes of the period, but Lubbock was only able to capitalize on one of their seven opportunities. Kyle Nosan roofed the puck at 11:22 just 11 seconds into a major penalty for boarding given to Rocky Mountain winger Bret DeCecco. The Rage's penalty kill stiffened the rest of the way, though, and Lubbock led 2-0 heading into the third.

It remained a 2-0 hockey game for most of the final period until the Cotton Kings' Simon Watson added a third power play marker at 18:01 to erase any remaining doubt about the outcome.

Lubbock netminder Kyle Stanton secured the shutout by making 19 saves.

The Rage next return home to host the Wichita Thunder at the Broomfield Event Center on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7:05 p.m. It is "Dollar Dog and Dollar Beer Night" at the BEC on Tuesday featuring $1 hot dogs and $1 Budweiser and Bud Light draft beers.
