Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Frederick Keys used a dominant start from DL Hall as they downed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 2-1 on Thursday night from TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.
For the first time in the series, the Keys (15-24, 44-64) found the scoreboard before the fifth inning as they jumped ahead of the Pelicans (20-21, 41-67) with a run in the fourth inning.
After Zach Jarrett was hit by a pitch from Javier Assad (L, 3-8) to start the inning, he stole second and advanced to third on a single before scoring on an infield single from Patrick Dorrian that gave the Keys a 1-0 lead.
In the fifth, the Keys added to their lead when Will Robertson launched a solo homer to left that made it 2-0.
The Pelicans pushed a run across against Hall (W, 4-4) in the fifth inning when Wladimir Galindo doubled and plated Aramis Ademan from first and made it a 2-1 lead in favor of the Keys.
Hall was electric in his second start of the year against the Pelicans. He tossed six innings for just the fourth time in his professional career and struck out 10 in the win.
Myrtle Beach threatened in the bottom of the eighth inning when Kieran Lovegrove walked the bases loaded, but Diogenes Almengo entered and forced Miguel Amaya to fly out to end the inning.
Almengo stayed on in the ninth inning and locked down his ninth save of the season in the Keys 2-1 win over the Pelicans.
The Pelicans will hit the road on Friday as they open a three-game series with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers at Segra Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and RHP Jeffrey Passantino (0-0, 2.08) will take the hill for the Pelicans against RHP J.P. France (4-6, 4.06) for the Woodpeckers. Coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. on the Pelicans Baseball Network which is available on the TuneIn App, MyrtleBeachPelicans.com/Broadcast and MiLB First Pitch app.
The 2019 season is the 21st season for the Pelicans franchise and fifth as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. For tickets visit MyrtleBeachPelicans.com/tickets, call (843) 918-6000, or visit the Pelicans Box Office.
