TACOMA, Wash. -- Carlos Peguero hit a walk-off home run the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Tacoma Rainiers to a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Cheney Stadium on Saturday.
Tacoma trailed 3-0 heading into the game's final frame before Jason Jaramillo led off the inning with a solo shot to right field - his second of the season.
Over Tacoma's next four at-bats, Leury Bonilla singled and Ty Kelly and Franklin Gutierrez each drew walks to load the bases with one out for Peguero. The outfielder then proceeded to lift a grand slam to right field off reliever Logan Kensing that earned the Rainiers the team's second consecutive walk-off win.
The home run was Peguero's team-leading 18th of the year with Tacoma and upped his RBI total to 75 over his first 105 games wearing a Rainiers uniform.
Tacoma's lineup combined to collect 10 hits against the Sky Sox in the contest. Peguero led the way with a 2-for-5, four-RBI effort, with Nate Tenbrink and Leury Bonilla each turning in two-hit performances.
Reliever Forrest Snow earned the win after holding the Sky Sox scoreless on one hit and striking out three through two innings of work over the eighth and ninth. Starter James Paxton allowed three runs - two earned - on six hits and fanned four with three walks issued over seven innings.
The Rainiers (68-60) host the third game of a five-game series with Colorado Springs (61-64) at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, August 18. Right-hander Andrew Carraway (6-5, 4.80) is slated to start for Tacoma against Sky Sox right-hander Sean Gallagher (0-2, 5.73).
