Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - The Saskatoon Blades couldn't repeat the same result from the previous night, falling 6-0 to the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday night at SaskTel Centre.
The loss come less than 24 hours after Saskatoon took down the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-4 in overtime, led by Brandon Lisowsky's hat-trick.
The Blades will now turn their attention to the weekend where they'll take on the Prince Albert Raiders in a home and home. The series begins in the Art Hauser Centre on Friday before the two squads collide at SaskTel Centre for the infamous Teddy Bear Toss match on Saturday (7:00pm).
Five different ICE players found the back of the net, led by a two-goal performance from Owen Pederson. Matthew Savoie, Connor McClennon, Connor Geekie, and Jack Finley each lit the lamp, and Jakin Smallwood collected three assists. In total, 12 Winnipeg players found the score sheet on Wednesday as the Winnipeg ICE improve to a CHL-best 24-4-1-0.
Daniel Hauser stopped all 28 shots to collect his third shutout of the year, improving to 11-0-1-0 on the season.
Nolan Maier stopped 27 of 33 as the Blades fall to 14-12-1-0 on the campaign.
Winnipeg came out hot in the opening frame, scoring three goals. Saskatoon rebounded in the second period, but couldn't find a way past Hauser, despite throwing 12 shots on goal to Winnipeg's six. The ICE, who dropped a 4-1 decision in Prince Albert the previous night, tallied three more in the third.
The Blades now head north on Highway 11 to take on rival Prince Albert Raiders in a home and home which will be the last games before the Christmas break.
