PRINCE GEORGE, BC- Koehn Ziemmer had a night he won't soon forget. The 17-year-old recorded six points in the Prince George Cougars 7-3 triumph over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday night.

Wednesday's win was the Cougars fourth in a row as they picked up the midweek sweep over Vancouver. Prince George beat the Giants 5-3 on Tuesday.

Ziemmer finished with a pair of goals to go along with four assists and was named the game's first star. Craig Armstrong also scored twice, and Hudson Thornton, Connor Bowie, and Riley Heidt found the back of the net. Seven players had multi-point games for Prince George.

Lost in the offence was the fact goaltender Ty Young earned his first career WHL win, as he stopped 28 of 31 shots. The 17-year-old made his first start of the season and first start at home.

"It felt really good. We had a young goalie in there who had to battle and was really composed, then the team found its footing and it was a heck of a win for us," said Cougars' General Manager & Head Coach Mark Lamb.

Ziemmer is the first Cougar to record a six-point night since Dan Baum had six points (1-5-6) in a 9-8 overtime win against Tri-City on March 11, 2003.

Prince George trailed 2-0 after the first period, as the Giants got goals from Tanner Brown and Alex Cotton to put them up after 20 minutes. Brown scored just 23 seconds into the game and Cotton's goal came with two minutes left in the frame.

The Cougars rallied in the middle frame, as Thornton, Heidt and Armstrong all scored in the final 10 minutes of the frame to turn a 2-0 deficit, into a 3-2 lead. Thornton scored on the power play at 10:03 to cut the deficit to 2-1. Then, Heidt tied the game 2-2 at 14:21 as he tipped in Ethan Samson's point shot. Armstrong scored his first of two goals on the night at 19:31 to make it 3-2.

In the third period, Armstrong picked up where he left off in the second. The 18-year-old bagged his second goal of the game just 53 seconds into the third to make it 4-2.

Ziemmer scored twice in the third period to blow the game wide open. First, the Mayerthorpe, AB product made it 5-2 two and a half minutes into the frame. Then, Ziemmer made it 6-2 when he scored on the power play at 4:36.

After Ziemmer's first goal in the third, the Giants made a switch in net, as starter Connor Martin was replaced by back up Will Gurski.

Bowie and the Giants' Alex Cotton traded goals 58 seconds apart to finish off the scoring late in the third period.

Game Notes: The Cougars are now 5-2-0-0 in the month of December. Prince George also is 8-6 at home through 14 games. Ziemmer has seven points (3g-4a) in the last two games. The Cougars are now 3-3-0-0 in six games against Vancouver.
