Oil Kings Put Brakes on Hitmen Streak

Calgary, AB - In the Western Hockey League's Battle of Alberta, the Edmonton Oil Kings skated to a 5-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The setback ended a strong run for the Hitmen who suffered their first regulation loss in nine games.

With the score tied 2-2 heading to the third period, the Oil Kings outshot the home side 14-5 and tallied the only three goals.

Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jakub Demek paced the Edmonton attack with two goals and an assist while Josh Williams recorded three assists.

On the Calgary side, Belarusian forward Anton Astashevich notched his first career WHL goal tipping home a Carter Yakemchuk shot while Billal Noori also added a single.

The Hitmen will now face Red Deer in a home and home set before the holiday break with a Friday, Dec. 17 visit to Central Alberta before hosting the Rebels on Sunday, Dec. 19. The 2:00 p.m. rematch at Scotiabank Saddledome will be another Sunday Funday featuring "Farley's Family Feast" with special $2 prices for cotton candy, water, pop, hot dogs and popcorn. There are also select $5 menu items as well.
