Savannah Sand Gnats News Release

KINGS MOUTAIN, N.C. - Two Sand Gnats, catcher Brian Peacock and left-handed pitcher Gene Yost were named to the 2006 South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star team Tuesday. The all-star game is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20 at 7:35 p.m. in Eastlake, Ohio.

Peacock, 21, leads the team with a .284 average and nine home runs this season after starting the year as the back up catcher. Peacock showed promise early on in the season and took over the starting catcher duties when Erick San Pedro went on the disabled list on May 14.

Yost spent parts of last season in Savannah as a relief pitcher and began this season in the Gnats pen. He made a spot start on May 21 and allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings. Since then he has remained in the rotation, going 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in three starts.
