Four to Represent Catfish at SAL All-Star Game

Columbus, GA - Rosters for the 2006 South Atlantic League All-Star Game were announced Tuesday, with four representatives of the Columbus Catfish. The Southern Division roster will include Catfish Manager Travis Barbary on the coaching staff, Left Fielder Drew Locke, Utility Infielder Russ Mitchell and Pitcher Cory Wade.

Barbary, in his second season with the Catfish, has led the squad to a 30-27 record and a tie for third place in the SAL Southern Division. The former Dodgers bullpen catcher is in his 12th season in the Los Angeles organization.

Locke is third in the SAL with a .345 average and second with 44 RBI. He also has scored 40 runs in 50 games. In the midst of a 15-game hitting streak Locke was named the BC Powder SAL Hitter of the Week for the week of May 22 through 28.

Primarily a third baseman, Mitchell has hit eight homers, 44 RBI and 40 runs. He leads the league with 22 doubles in 56 games.

Wade has compiled a 2-2 record and two saves with a 4.22 ERA. He has made six starts since moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation. In 49 innings Wade has 52 strikeouts and merely six walks.

The 47th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, June 20 at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
