The PawSox' bid to tie a team record of 9 straight wins was denied on Wednesday night at McCoy. Pawtucket fell to Lehigh Valley 9-3. The Iron Pigs scored a run in the first to take the early lead. Lars Anderson nailed a homer into the visiting bullpen to tie it at 1-1 in the fourth. In the sixth, Lehigh Valley scored 3 runs against eventual loser Ramon Ramirez (4-5). Gustavo Molina's home run highlighted a 2 run seventh for Pawtucket. Lehigh broke it open in the eighth, as Andy Tracy belted his 21st home run of the year, a grand slam.
Drew Carpenter (8-11) was the winner. He threw 6.2 innings, allowing just 2 earned runs. Anderson and Gil Velazquez had 2 hits apiece for the PawSox. Josh Reddick went 1-4, extending his hitting streak to 10 games.
The series and home stand concludes on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Ty Taubenheim (2-3, 4.36) faces Kris Johnson (5-13, 5.08).
