The fifth-place IronPigs (55-83) play the opener of a two-game series at the red-hot, fourth-place Pawtucket Red Sox (64-74) -- Boston's top affiliate. With a 6-0 shutout over Scranton/WB last night, the Pigs swept the two-game series withthe Northern Division Champs and have won three of four since a five-game losing streak. Still, the Pigs are just 11-25 (.297) in their last 36 affairs... Pawtucket is riding a season-high eight-game winning streak (had previously won six straight May 11-16) and has gone 10-1 in its last 11 contests. The Red Sox recent surge comes after they went just 11-23 (.324) in their previous 34 contests from July 17 to August 21.

RHP Drew Carpenter (7-11, 4.16) will start for LHV against RHP Ramon Ramirez (4-4, 5.15).

First-pitch is at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy Stadium.

With the win last night, LHV has matched its win total from '08 (when they finished 55-88) with 6 G left to play.
