Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

Playing at the park of the Single A Batavia MuckDogs, the Pawtucket Red Sox defeated Scranton Wilkes-Barre 9-3 on Saturday night. Dwyer Stadium was the site of the I.L. matchup. Necessary because the Yankees stadium in Moosic, Pa. is undergoing a complete renovation, the Yankees are playing their entire 144 game schedule on the road at various ballparks.

The PawSox took advantage of a 5 run second inning to break it open early. The 5 runs came on 5 hits including a two run double by Lars Anderson and a homer by Che-Hsuan Lin. Mauro Gomez added an RBI double and a solo home run, his tenth. Starter and loser Nelson Figueroa lasted just two and a third innings. Mike O'Connor pitched the rest of the game, allowing a run on 5 hits.

Brandon Duckworth (4-0) notched the win, going 5 and two thirds innings, striking out 7 batters. Chorye Spoon, Will Inman and Mark Melancon did well in relief.

The series shifts to Frontier Field in Rochester for a Sunday matinee. Game time is 2:05 p.m. Doug Mathis (0-2, 7.17) will face returning Yankees ace Andy Pettitte. The game is sold out.
