Paul Gaustad suspended for one game

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans center Paul Gaustad has been suspended one game by the American Hockey League as a result of accumulating his third misconduct penalty in the instigator category.

Gaustad was accessed an instigator penalty on Saturday, March 12th in a 3-1 loss to the Syracuse Crunch. The Fargo, North Dakota, native will miss Friday's 7:35 p.m. game against the Albany River Rats at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.

The 6-5, 220-pound forward has 36 points (16+20) and 153 PIM in 63 games this season. Gaustad, 23, is in his third season with the organization and has played 221 games with Rochester and one game with the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. He was the Sabres' seventh-round selection (220th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

On Friday, the Amerks will induct defenseman Don McSween into the Amerks Hall of Fame. He will become the 40th member of the Amerks Hall of Fame and the ninth blueliner to enter the prestigious club. McSween will join fellow defensemen Al Arbour, Darryl Sly, Don Cherry, Duane Rupp, Steve Kraftcheck, Jim Hofford, John Van Boxmeer and Dave Fenyves.

The first 1,500 fans will receive an Amerks puck courtesy of Chase-Pitkin. Fans can also enjoy the official postgame party at Nathaniel's Pub at 251 Exchange Blvd. The contest will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and amerks.com.

The Amerks (45-11-4-6, 100 points) currently lead the American Hockey League in points and became the first team to clinch a Calder Cup Playoff spot last Sunday.
