
Pats Score Twice in Third to Comeback and Grab Point

Red Deer, Alta. - The Regina Pats overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period, earning a point in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday inside the Peavey Mart Centrium.
With the Rebels taking a 4-2 lead late in the third period, the Pats scored twice roughly three minutes apart to tie the game and gather a point in Red Deer. Tanner Howe hit the 20 goal mark with two in the game while Borya Valis (1G-1A) and Aaron Krestanowich rounded out the scoring. Braxton Whitehead (2A) and Parker Berge (2A) each chipped in with multi-point games and Kelton Pyne made 36 saves.
The Pats have now grabbed three of a possible four points so far this weekend and have gone 3-1-0-1 over their last five games.
The Rebels won their fourth in a row and their 10th one-goal game, getting goals from Kai Uchacz (1G-2A), Frantisek Formanek (1G-2A), Jace Weir and Kalan Lind (1G-1A). Chase Wutzke made 25 saves for his fifth straight win.
All three meetings between the Pats and Rebels have been decided by one goal with the Pats going 1-1-0-1 against the Rebels this season.

First Period
1-0 Pats at 1:44 - Aaron Krestanowich (2), assisted by Braxton Whitehead // Krestanowich got the puck at the left point and sent a long wrist shot toward the Rebels net that appeared to have been deflected past Wutzke to give the Pats an early 1-0 lead.
1-1 Rebels at 0:00 - Kai Uchacz (20), assisted by Frantisek Formanek & Carson Birnie // The Rebels worked the puck around the Pats zone and the puck got to Uchacz, who ripped it past Pyne to tie the game up at 1-1.
2-1 Pats at 12:49 - Tanner Howe (19), assisted by Sam Oremba & Parker Berge (PP) // Oremba dropped the puck to Howe at the top of the left circle and he had a lane and ripped a wrist shot past Wutzke to restore the Pats one-goal lead at 2-1.
Second Period
2-2 Rebels at 15:05 - Frantisek Formanek (7), assisted by Kai Uchacz & Kalan Lind // A shot was deflected high in the air near the Pats blue paint, Formanek tracked the loose puck and tucked it past Pyne to tie the game up at 2-2.
3-2 Rebels at 16:47 - Jace Weir (1), assisted by Matteo Fabrizi & Jhett Larson // Weir took a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that bounced off a player in front of Pyne and past the Pats goaltender to give the Rebels their first lead of the game at 3-2.
Third Period
4-2 Rebels at 12:40 - Kalan Lind (4), assisted by Frantisek Formanek & Kai Uchacz // The Rebels got behind the Pats' defence and broke in on an odd-man rush and Lind beat Pyne who had no chance to give the Rebels a 4-2 lead.
4-3 Pats at 13:14 - Tanner Howe (20), assisted by Parker Berge & Borya Valis // Berge's shot deflected off the back boards, off the goalie, and to Howe who was Johnny-on-the-spot to pull the Pats to within one at 4-3.
4-4 Pats at 16:31 - Borya Valis (11), assisted by Braxton Whitehead & Jaren Brinson // Whitehead fed Vails at the point and he let a slapshot go that beat Wutzke top corner to pull the Pats even at 4-4.

Aaron Krestanowich scored his second goal of the season. The goal was his first point since he sniped back on October 27th. It's his second point of the season.
Sam Oremba picked up an assist and is now on a five-game point streak (1G-6A).
Tanner Howe scored twice to extend his point streak to six games (5G-4A).
Braxton Whitehead had two assists and has points (7A) in each of the four games since returning from his injury.
After being held off the scoresheet on Friday - Parker Berge notched a pair of assists. He has nine points (4G-5A) in his last five games.
Borya Valis picked up a goal and an assist; he now has nine points (4G-5A) on his six-game point streak. He has also scored in three straight contests.
