
Pats Host Raiders in 2021 Teddy Bear Toss Contest

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats (10-14-0) host the Prince Albert Raiders (9-14-1-1) at 7:00 p.m., for the first Teddy Bear Toss game at the Brandt Centre since December 7th, 2019.
The Pats are coming off a 4-2 win on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre, snapping the clubs four game skid overall, and season high four game losing-streak on home ice dating back to mid-November. The Pats got multi-point games from Connor Bedard (2G-1A), Borya Valis (1G-2A), and Tanner Howe (2A), along with a 34 save performance from Matthew Kieper. Shots were 39-36 for the Pats, with Regina going 1-4 on the power play and 2-4 on the penalty kill.
Meanwhile, the Prince Albert Raiders have recorded at least a point in four straight games (4-0-1) defeating Brandon (2-1), Winnipeg (OT, 4-3) and Regina (5-2) before losing 5-4 in overtime at home to Swift Current in their Teddy Bear Toss game on Tuesday. The club also announced Wednesday that they have named Reece Vitelli their 45th captain in team history, while Nolan Allan was named an assistant.

These two clubs last met last week on December 3rd, with the Raiders defeating the Pats 5-2. Tanner Howe and Braxton Whitehead scored for the Pats in the loss, while Matthew Kieper lasted just two periods, allowing five goals on 25 shots. Tikhon Chaika made a career high 45 saves on 47 shots, while the Raiders got goals from two former Pats as Cale Sanders scored twice and Sloan Stanick scored the opening goal.

The Pats made nine selections in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, drafting picking six forwards, two defencemen and one goalie...the highlight of the draft was the selections of Jaxsin and Corbin Vaughan - twin brothers taken in the first and second round by the Pats out of the the Rink Hockey Academy U18 program in Kelowna.
The Last Pats player to score a Teddy Bear Toss goal was former captain Austin Pratt on December 7th, 2019 in a 3-2 win over Red Deer...the Pats are 2-3 over their last five Teddy Bear Toss games dating back to the 2015-16 season, losing to Kelowna twice and Medicine Hat, and grabbing wins over Swift Current and Red Deer.
