
Pats Beat Blades 4-2, Bedard Scores 70th

Saskatoon, Sask. - Connor Bedard scored his 70th goal of the season, Kelton Pyne made 42 saves and the Regina Pats finished the weekend on a high note, defeating the Saskatoon Blades 4-2 on Sunday inside the SaskTel Centre.
Kelton Pyne shutout the Blades through 40 minutes of play and finished the night with a career-best 42 saves, earning his third victory of the season. Connor Bedard scored the Pats fourth goal to make it a 4-1 game late in the third lead period, becoming the first Pats player to score 70+ goals since Dale Derkatch in 1983-84.
Brayden Barnett scored his third of the season (GWG), Tanner Howe netted his 34th and Alexander Suzdalev picked up his 38th goal of the year to round out the scoring. The Pats have won two straight games and three of their last four games.
The Blades had their two game winning-streak come to a close. Brandon Lisowsky scored twice and Austin Elliott made 18 saves in the loss.

REG 1-0 at 4:13 - Alexander Suzdalev (38) assisted by Connor Bedard and Riley Ginnell // The Pats work the cycle down deep in the Blades zone and Bedard got the puck below the goal line to the right of the Blades netminder and sent a saucer pass through the crease to Suzdalev and he quickly deposited it past Elliott to get the Pats on the board early in the middle frame.
REG 2-0 at 15:07 - Tanner Howe (34), assisted by Stanislav Svozil // Howe chipped the puck past a defender and skated in with speed, stopped up, and beat the defenceman with a nice move and he then fired the puck past Elliott to extend the Pats lead to 2-0.

SAS 2-1 at 7:46 - Brandon Lisowsky (34) assisted by Trevor Wong and Aidan De La Gorgendiere (PP) // With a ton of momentum, the Blades were controlling the play in the Pats zone and Wong found Lisowsky in the high slot who one-timed it past Pyne to get the Blades to within one at 2-1.
REG 3-1 at 10:48 - Brayden Barnett (3) assisted by Parker Berge and Sam Oremba // Oremba sent a pass to Berge in the high slot and he sent a shot to the goal which was stopped by Elliott, but Barnett was there to clean up the garbage and slam it home to give the Pats a 3-1 lead.
REG 4-1 at 14:47 - Connor Bedard (70) assisted by Alexander Suzdalev // A strong play by Suzdalev along the right boards where he controlled the puck and sent a backhand pass to Bedard who ripped home his 70th of the season to give the Pats a 4-1 lead.
SAS 4-2 at 18:01 - Brandon Lisowsky (35) assisted by Tanner Molendyk // Lisowsky wired a one-time pass from Molendyk to pull the Blades to within a pair at 4-2.

NOTES
Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist to give him 142 points on the season (once the Saturday summary is updated) which leads the WHL. His 70 goals and 72 assists also lead the league. He has 78 points (43G-35A) in 27 games since returning from the World Juniors. Bedard has also scored nine goals and 17 points over his last four games.
The last WHL player to reach 70 goals was Jayden Halbgewachs before Bedard tonight. He's the first player to score 70+ goals as a 17-year-old since Pavel Brendl in 1998-1999. His 90G and 142PTS are the third and fourth most by a 17-year-old in WHL history.
Riley Ginnell has points in four straight games where he had picked up five points (3G-2A).
Tanner Howe scored and has 14 points (6G-8A) in his last 11 games and is riding a four game point-streak.
Alexander Suzdalev had a goal and an assist and has six points (2G-4A) in his last three games and has 16 points (8G-8A) over his last 13 games.
Parker Berge has points in back-to-back games where he has three points (1G-2A) during that stretch.
Sam Oremba had an assist and has seven points (1G-6A) in his last 11 games.

The Pats finish off their regular season schedule with a pair of games this upcoming weekend. First, they travel back to Saskatoon to face the Blades on Friday, March 24th at 7:00 pm. The Pats return home to host their annual Fan Appreciation game on Saturday, March 25th to round out the regular season, puck-drop is 7:00 pm. at the Brandt Centre.
