
Pats and Warriors Battle on New Years Day

Regina, Sask. - Today the Regina Pats (13-17-0) host the Moose Jaw Warriors (16-14-3) in a New Years Day contest at 4:00 p.m., at the Brandt Centre.
The Pats are coming off a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday, which snapped the clubs four game home winning-streak while ending the ICE' two game skid. For the Pats, they got goals from Logan Nijhoff (12) and Zack Smith (2), but it was Winnipeg's three goal first frame that propelled them to their 26th win of the season. The final shots were 32-24 in favor of the ICE, with the Pats going 0-3 on the power play and 2-3 on the penalty kill. Drew Sim got the nod in net, allowing four goals on 34 shots in his sixth loss of the season.
For the Warriors, they are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the Red Deer Rebels last night at Mosaic Place, with Jagger Firkus scoring the winner, as they improve to 2-0 on the second-half schedule. They also got goals from Brayden Yager (16), Eric Alarie (9) and Robert Baco (4) on the way to their 16th win of the season. Final shots were 30-22 for Moose Jaw, going 0-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Warriors have now won three straight games, outscoring their opponents 16-to-10 during that time...on the flip side, the Warriors have dropped their last three road games, sitting with a 5-9-1 road record versus their 10-5-2 home record.
