
Patriots Win 1st Game of Double Header; Second Game Postponed Due to Rain

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots won the first game of a scheduled double header at TD Bank Ballpark 4-3 over the Lancaster Barnstormers. Game two was postponed due to the heavy rains and will be made up as a double header on Wednesday, July 30th beginning at 5:05 pm.
Edwin Maysonet's sacrifice fly with bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning won it for the Patriots in extra innings.
Somerset broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cory Harrilchak scored on a wild pitch, Luis Montanez drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, and Adam Donachie drew a bases loaded walk.
The Barnstormers tied it up in the top of the seventh on a two-run triple by Lance Zawadzki and a wild pitch.
Jason Lowey (4-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Pete Parise (3-3) suffered the loss, giving up a run in an inning pitched.
The 2014 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday evening with a 5:05 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish.
