Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
(Central Islip, NY. - July 3, 2014) - The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Long Island Ducks 6-2 on Thursday evening at Bethpage Ballpark after play was stopped in the bottom of the sixth inning due to heavy rains.
Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when center fielder James Simmons scored when third baseman Ramon Castro reached on a fielder's choice. Long Island would tie the game in the bottom of the third inning off of designated hitter Lew Ford's RBI single. The Ducks would take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with center fielder Fehlandt Lentini's two-run double. Bridgeport's Prentice Redman hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Long Island lead to 3-2 but the Ducks would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, highlighted with RBI singles by third baseman Brendan Harris and catcher Jan Vazquez.
