Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
YORK, PA . - Gaby Hernandez threw seven innings of one run baseball to help the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to an 8-3 victory over the York Revolution to avoid a four-game sweep. The win caps off the Blue Crabs eight-game road trip with a 3-5 record.
Hernandez's (3-4) win is the third in his last four starts and second in as many starts against the Revolution. He has allowed just six earned runs in his last 34.2 innings spanning five starts. Logan Williamson suffered the loss for the Revolution after allowing two earned runs over 5.1 innings pitched.
For the first time in this series, the Blue Crabs scored the game's first run. Luke Murton's sacrifice fly gave Southern Maryland a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. York tied the game with a sacrifice fly of their own in the second inning when Salvador Paniagua brought in Johan Limonta.
Southern Maryland added single runs in the 3rd and 5th innings to build a lead. Amadeo Zazueta hit a sacrifice fly to regain the lead and Bobby Stevens doubled it scoring on an error by Travis Garcia.
Jermaine Mitchell padded the lead in the 7th inning with a two-run home run, just his second of the season. Mitchell finished the night with his second four-hit game of the season and drove in three runs.
The power surge continued for the Blue Crabs in the 8th inning as Johermyn Chavez's first home run with the team was a two-run shot that upped the lead to 7-1. Mitchell brought in his and the team's final run of the night with an RBI single to plate Allan de San Miguel.
