Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
Sugar Land took their third straight game against Camden tonight with a 7-2 victory in Game 3. The win tonight marks the team's fourth straight and gives the Skeeters a 6-1 record against the Riversharks so far this season, 36-29 overall. Also, the home team has yet to play a bottom of the ninth in the current series against Camden.
David Pauley (6.0,5,1,1,5,4) made his 11th start of the season tonight and was able to collect his sixth win of 2014. The righty pitched 6.0 innings and only allowed one run on five Rivershark hits with four strikeouts while on the mound.
The Skeeters struck first in the bottom of the third inning starting with a lead-off double down the right field line from thirdbaseman Dominic Ramos (2x4, 2 R, 2 RBI). The next two batters, left fielder Ryan Langerhans (1x3, RBI) and shortstop Taylor Harbin (2x4, R), were both given a free pass from the pitcher before right fielder Brian Barton (1x4, 2 RBI) stepped into the box. Barton then sacrificed a deep ball to the center fielder, whichallowed Ramos to record the first run of the game.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Harbin roped a double down the left field line, his fifth double so far this season with Sugar Land. A shot to right-center field from Barton and an error from the Camden right fielder allowed Barton to reach second base while Harbin came in for run number two.
Second baseman Chase Lambin (2x3, R) led off the bottom of the sixth with a ground-ball single that snuck past the Rivershark second baseman, followed by right fielder Neil Medchill (1x3, R) who got on with a walk. A hard-hit double to left field from Ramos allowed Lambin to cross the plate for the third score of the game. Catcher Danny Lehmann (1x3, R, 2 RBI) drilled a line shot deep to center field for a triple, which brought Medchill and Ramos home for two more runs. A sacrifice fly towards the manual score board from leftfielder Ryan Langerhans (1x3, RBI) brought Lehmann in for the fourth and final run of the inning, giving Sugar Land a 6-1 advantage heading into the top of the seventh.
Leading off the bottom of the seventh was Scott, who reached base with a walk and was advanced to second on a single to right field from designated hitter Delwyn Young (1x4). Lambin collected his second hit of the night before Medchill hit into a double play for outs one and two. Despite the double play, Scott was still able to tally up the seventh run of the outing.
Jared Wells (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) came in to start the top of the seventh inning in relief for Pauley and pitched 1.0 inning without giving up a run or a hit and recorded one personal retirement before the end of his frame. Lefty Cory VanAllen (1.0,1,0,0,0,1) then entered in the eight to take over for Wells. VanAllen tossed 1.0 inning and allowed one hit with no runs while in the game. Ramon Delgado (1.0,0,1,1,2,0) took the hill for the final inning and finished up the gamewith just one run scored.
