Patriots Shut out 3-0 by Blue Crabs

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots failed to score a run for the third straight game as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs went on to win 3-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.
Southern Maryland scored to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Casey Benjamin.
An RBI single by Brian Barton the following inning added another run for the Blue Crabs and gave them a 2-0 advantage.
Travis Garcia drove an RBI double to left field to bring home Barton for another run and the 3-0 win.
Southern Maryland starter Nick Green (7-5) got the win after tossing six scoreless innings and striking out two. Luke Sommer (1-4) suffered the loss for Somerset after replacing starter Bill Pulsipher in the third inning. Sommer allowed two runs on six hits in four innings pitched. Jim Ed Warden came on to pitch the ninth inning and record his 23rd save of the season.
