Carlos Vasquez threw seven shutout innings as the Riversharks won a key Liberty Division battle over the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-0. The shutout marks the third time this season Camden has shutout an opponent.
The victory brings the Riversharks within a half game of Bridgeport for second place in the Liberty Division. Long Island remains five games ahead of Camden.
Vasquez (9-3) surrendered just six hits and three walks in his seven shutout innings while striking out four batters.
Matt Pike (8-4) was the hard-luck loser allowing just two runs on eight hits in eight innings of work.
Danny Richar gave the Riversharks a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning with a two-run home run, his 11th of the season.
Camden added two insurance runs in the 9th inning of the unearned variety. Ruddy Yan and Juan Francia scored on fielder's choices to up the âSharks lead to 4-0.
