Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (29-12) shutout the Lancaster Barnstormers (17-25) 2-0 Saturday night at TD Bank Ballpark. By winning this series, the Patriots are now 7-0-1 in their last eight series. The Somerset pitching staff only surrendered one run in 37.0 innings pitched in this series.
In the bottom of the fifth inning Lancaster shortstop Lance Zawadzki committed a throwing error that led to two Patriots runs as Somerset grabbed a 2-0 lead.
Lucas Irvine earned the win (2-4) throwing seven scoreless innings while scattering just three hits and striking out a season-high seven batters. Nate Reed sustained the loss (0-3) as he surrendered no earned runs in five innings of work. Jon Hunton notched the save (8) pitching a scoreless final inning.
