Lancaster, Pennsylvania - The Somerset Patriots (31-22, 66-50) split Wednesday night's doubleheader with the Lancaster Barnstormers (28-23, 66-48) at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Somerset took a thrilling game one 7-6, while Lancaster bounced back with a 3-2 win in game two.

The Barnstormers opened the scoring in game one in the bottom of the second inning. A Josh Bell RBI double to left field and a run-scoring hit-by-pitch to Rico Noel provided Lancaster with the early 2-0 lead. Blake Gailen (24) added a solo home run in the third inning to extend their lead to 3-0.

Somerset tied up the ballgame in the top of the fifth on a Mike Blanke RBI fielder's choice, Craig Massey sac fly and an Endy Chavez two-out RBI single. Lancaster responded immediately with a pair of runs of two bases-loaded walks and an a Carlos Garcia RBI infield single to take a 6-3 lead.

That lead held until a Somerset four-run seventh-inning rally. The first three batters of the inning reached, topped off by a Massey RBI double. The next batter, Chavez, hit a run-scoring groundout to bring the Patriots within a run. Joyce Boyd (5) then launched a two-run home out to left field that propelled the Patriots ahead 7-6.

Ryan Kelly struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to lock down the save.

Dustin Antolin (2-4) tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win. Huascar Brazoban (2-4) yielded four runs over 0.1 innings of work to take the loss. Kelly earned his 22nd save of the year.

Somerset got ahead early in game two of the doubleheader. Nate Coronado put the Patriots in front with an RBI groundout in the first before Justin Trapp's (7) solo home run to left field in the second doubled the lead.

Lancaster answered with a three-run bottom of the third to take the lead. Noel (2) led off the inning with a solo home run before a Bell two-run single put the Barnstormers in front.

Both teams were held off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Brooks Hall (11-3) allowed two runs over five innings to earn the win. Kyle Davies (6-8) took the loss after yielding three runs over six innings. Kevin Munson (1) tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.

The Patriots and Barnstormers wrap up their three-game series Thursday night. Right-handed pitcher Vince Molesky (6-2, 2.63 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against Lancaster southpaw John Anderson (5-2, 3.06 ERA). First pitch at Clipper Magazine Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Friday, September 7th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 7:05 p.m. game against the York Revolution.
