Panthers Recall Grimaldi from Pirates

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of Portland Pirates forward Rocco Grimaldi.

The 5-foot-6, 160 pound right wing from Rossmoor, California, is heading to Florida for the fourth time this season. He began the year on Injured Reserve with the Panthers before being assigned to Portland on October 12. He was recalled again Oct. 31 and remained there through Nov. 25.

In Portland, Grimaldi has played in 52 games this season, scoring 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points. His most recent scoring campaign included two goals including the game-winner on Feb. 28 against the Springfield Falcons and a second game-winner against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on March 20.

Grimaldi has played in 14 games with the Panthers this season, collecting his first NHL goal of the season in his hometown on Nov. 4 against the Anaheim Ducks.

The 22 year-old second year pro was selected in the Second Round (33rd Overall) by Florida in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He played three seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the University of North Dakota before turning pro.

Grimaldi will join the Panthers ahead of their home game against the New Jersey Devils Thursday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
