Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm (2-4-0-1, 5 pts.) is set for Color Out Cancer Night Friday at 7:05 p.m., playing on ice painted with the names of those that have battled cancer. The Storm wears one-night-only specialty jerseys and faces off against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (0-4-1-0, 1 pt.) for the first of two matchups this season.

The RoughRiders won the Anderson Cup, awarded to the best regular season team. The Storm won the 2016 Clark Cup.

Color Out Cancer Night is presented by Midway Auto Dealerships and is the second night of #StormFightsCancer Weekend. Last night, hundreds of community members came to the Viaero Center and paid tribute to those they know battling cancer by painting the ice. Players and coaches joined the fans.

Tonight is also a $5 Kids Friday, featuring $5 tickets for fans 12 and under. All kids receive a voucher for a free taco and soft drink from Kearney Taco Bell.

Tri-City plays two home games this weekend, including Saturday's "Concrete Cares Night", presented by Kearney Concrete, at 7:05 p.m. against the rival Lincoln Stars. The ice will remain painted and the Storm will wear new specialty jerseys that are available for auction after the game.

Washe + Graham light it up Returning Storm forwards Paul Washe and Monte Graham are tied for a Storm-best three goals. Washe, 17, leads the Storm with six points after a two-assist game on Sunday at Omaha. The native of Clarkston, Michigan is also tops on Tri-City with two multi-point games. Last season, Washe had four multi-point efforts.

Meanwhile, Graham's three goals have equaled his total from last season, when the Boston College netted three goals and eight points in 56 games.

Scouting the RoughRiders Cedar Rapids is the only team in the USHL without a win, dropping four home games and one away game.

Since salvaging a point in an overtime loss to Dubuque on opening night, Cedar Rapids has dropped five straight games and has been outscored, 21-7.

This matchup presents a contrast from last season's early October duel at the Viaero Center; entering the game, the Storm was 3-0-0-0 and the RoughRiders were 4-0-0-0. On October 9, 2015 Ryan Larkin made 34 saves and Cedar Rapids won in a shootout, 2-1

The team has scored a USHL-low eight goals and allowed a league-worst 4.6 goals a game. Returning scorer Zach Robbins leads this season's group with four points.

The RoughRiders have used three goalies in six games; Drew Deridder, Zack LaRocque and Matthew Ladd. In four games, LaRocque is 0-2-1-0 with a 3.91 goals against average and an .885 save percentage.

After winning the Anderson Cup and entering the playoffs as the top overall seed, the team fell in the first round of the Clark Cup Playoffs to the Bloomington Thunder.

Last Time Out Despite tying a franchise record by allowing 12 shots on goal, the Storm suffered its fourth straight defeat, falling, 3-2, Sunday at Omaha.

The 12 shots on goal tied Tri-City's mark for fewest allowed in a game, the sixth time the Storm has reached the mark.

The Storm allowed five shots in the first half of the game and two in the third period.

David Tomeo made seven saves before Dayton Rasmussen relieved the goalie for the start of the third.

Tri-City's Alex Limoges tied the game, 1-1, midway through the first. Nick Azar scored his first USHL goal halfway through the second to give the Storm the lead.

On Deck Tri-City continues Storm Fights Cancer Weekend on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against Lincoln with Concrete Cares Night, presented by Kearney Concrete. Tri-City will wear one-night-only specialty jerseys available for auction after the game with all funds going to cancer research.
