Scouting Lincoln - The Stars (3-3-0) took two points from three games last weekend. Lincoln has the second-best penalty kill in the USHL (95.5%) and has two power play goals in its last three games. Gustaf Westlund and Brandon Schultz lead the Stars with three assists.

Scouting Des Moines - The Buccaneers (4-0-1) swept Team USA last weekend and are the only team in the Western Conference without a regulation loss. Des Moines has the second-best power play in the USHL (41.2%). Julian Napravnik, David Keefer and Kobe Roth lead the team with seven points.

Gillespie Suspended - Stars forward Mike Gillespie was suspended three games for fighting with less than five minutes remaining in the game and for removing his own helmet on Oct. 6. He will be eligible to return on Oct. 15 against the Tri-City Storm.

Mersch Thriving - Dominick Mersch has two goals since moving to the first line alongside Brandon Schultz and Ethen Frank. The trio leads the Stars in shots: Frank (16), Schultz (15), Mersch (13).

Series History - The Stars are 1-0-0 against the Buccaneers this season after winning 4-3 in a shootout on Sept. 30. Ethen Frank, Henry Bowlby and Justin Richards scored for the Stars. Josef Korenar made 26 saves. Lincoln will play Des Moines eight times this season.

Pink in the Rink - The Stars are hosting Pink in the Rink presented by Zipline Brewing Co. on Friday, Oct. 14. The team will wear special jerseys and raffle them immediately following the game. All proceeds will be donated to the Pink Bandana, a local non-profit committed to assisting those under 40 years old affected by Breast Cancer.

Stars in the Show - Five former Stars made NHL Opening-Day Rosters. David Backes (BOS), Jared Boll (ANA), Ryan Dzingel (OTT), Jimmy Hayes (BOS) and Chris VandeVelde (PHI) joined a record-setting 107 USHL alumni on NHL rosters.

Road Trippin - The Stars will begin their longest road trip in team history on Oct. 15 in Kearney. The seven-game trip features six opponents in five states and will conclude on Nov. 5th in Sioux Falls.

NHL CSS Players to Watch - The NHL released its preliminary Players to Watch list for the 2017 NHL Draft. Sixty-eight players on USHL rosters were named to the list, including Cayden Primeau and Eero Terî=A4vî=A4inen. Primeau was listed as a B-rated prospect (projected 2nd-3rd round pick), while Terî=A4vî=A4inen was listed as a C-rated prospect (projected 4th-7th round pick).

Oh Captain, My Captain - Dylan Woolf was named team captain for the 2016-2017 season. Mike Gillespie, Jake Nielsen and Christian Evers were named alternates. Woolf served as an alternate captain last season.

Promo Nights - The Stars have released their promotional schedule for the 2016-2017 season with highlights including: Military Appreciation Night presented by West Gate Bank (Nov. 11) and Princesses and Pirates Night presented by Elite Custom Technology (Nov. 18).
