Omaha Lancers News Release

Fargo, ND - A goal in the first five minutes of all three periods helped the Lancers revenge an opening night loss defeating Fargo 5-3 Friday at Scheels Arena.

Pierce Crawford picked up two goals for the second time this season, both coming against Fargo. Brannon McManus extended his goal streak to a league-high four-games with his second period tally. Moorhead, Minnesota native Alex Mehnert recorded an assist in his homecoming.

Pierce Crawford scored his third goal of the season, all three coming against Fargo, early in the first to give Omaha a 1-0 lead. Crawford cut towards the front of the net from the right half wall before scooping a shot towards Matt Murray in the Fargo cage. A fluttering puck beat Murray low to the glove side giving Omaha a goal in the first five minutes for the second time in as many games. Before the period ended Fargo would draw back even.

Martin Sundberg took advantage of a turnover just outside the Omaha zone. A short break away evened the score up as Sundberg beat goaltender Peter Thome. After the first period the score was knotted up at 1-1.

Omaha came out fast in the second period again. Fresh off the bench Brannon McManus cut across the net mouth putting a backhand shot into the upper part of the net, giving Omaha a 2-1 lead. Shortly after Crawford would add another to push the lead to 3-1. Splitting the defense Crawford fell to his knees sliding into the slot. From there the forward sent a shot through Matt Murray's five-hole for his second of the night and a two-goal Omaha lead.

The Force power play, which finished 2-for-7, struck before the period was out. Jack Adams and Evan Bell picked up power play tallies to pull the game even again when the second horn sounded.

Once again a quick goal got Omaha back on the board in the third. Mitch Perrault beat Murray from the right wing side only 2:28 into the frame to give the Lancers a 4-3 lead. About six minutes later Jacob Paganelli would tack on an insurance marker to give the Lancers a 5-3 victory.

Peter Thome finished the night recording 33 saves on 36 shots claiming his third win of the year. Murray, who fell to 3-3-0, recorded 20 saves on 25 shots.

Omaha ended the night 0-for-3 on the man-advantage.

Fargo and Omaha will play again tomorrow night at Scheels Arena. Puck drop set for 7:05pm.
