Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln, Neb. - Cayden Primeau made 20 saves in the Lincoln Stars 1-0 win against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday in the Ice Box.

Kyle Kawamura's first USHL goal at 2:26 of the third period was the game-winner and pushed the Stars to 4-3-0 this season.

Neither team could establish a lead through the first 40 minutes despite scoring chances and power plays on both ends of the ice. The Stars outshot the Buccaneers, 17-13, through two periods before Kawamura crashed the net in the third to break the tie. Gustaf Westlund and Christian Evers had assists on the goal.

Lincoln nearly scored early in the first period when Buccaneers goalie Jan Ruzicka stoned Chayse Primeau on a clear-cut breakaway. Ruzicka stood tall again in the second, shutting out the Stars on a minute-long five-on-three power play.

Cayden Primeau made biggest stop for the Stars toward the end of the first period when he cut off the angle on David Keefer's wrist shot from the right circle. He was perfect through the final two periods en route to his first USHL shutout.
