LINCOLN, NE - Lincoln Saltdogs right-handed pitcher Jim Paduch has been named the American Association Pitcher of the Week, for August 10-16. The award was announced by PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association.

Paduch turned in his best start of the 2009 season on Wednesday, tossing eight shutout innings in a 1-0 win over Wichita at Haymarket Park. The righty allowed only six hits, walking none and striking out 11. He became the first Saltdogs pitcher in over two years to strike out ten or more batters in a game, and helped Lincoln claim sole possession of first place in the American Association North.

The Saltdogs have now had four players earn a weekly league honor in 2009, including three pitchers. First baseman Phil Hawke was named the American Association Batter of the Week for May 18-24, pitcher Jonathan Figueroa was the Pitcher of the Week for June 1-7, and pitcher Jarrett Gardner was Pitcher of the Week for June 22-28.

The next Lincoln Saltdogs homestand begins on August 18.
