Padres win over Colorado Springs

Daniel Robertson and Gregorio Petit had three hits each in the Padres 7-3 win over Colorado Springs Saturday night at Kino Stadium.

The Padres jumped ahead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Rene Rivera. Sky Sox outfielder Tyler Colvin tied the score on a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning, extending his hitting streak to eleven games. Colorado Springs went ahead 2-1 later in the inning on a fielding error by Tucson third baseman Jonathan Galvez. The Padres reclaimed the lead in the fifth with two runs, but the Sky Sox answered with a run in the top of sixth to knot the score at 3-3.

Jesus Merchan put Tucson up for good in the bottom of the sixth when he lined an RBI single to left scoring Petit. The Padres extended their lead with three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Cody Decker's pinch-hit triple bringing home Travis Buck and Galvez.

Colt Hynes earned the win in relief of starter Sean O'Sullivan, who struck out seven batters in 5.1 innings. Aaron Cook was charged with his third loss for Colorado Springs, allowing three earned runs on nine hits.
