Tacoma Rainiers News Release

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Tacoma Rainiers used a five-run inning in the first to spearhead an 8-2 win over the Las Vegas 51s on Saturday night, stretching the team's winning streak to a season-high four games.

The first six players in the lineup collected hits on the way to Tacoma taking an early 5-0 lead. Infielder Nick Franklin drove in the first run with a single that plated Michael Saunders, and the next four arrived via an Eric Thames double, Alex Liddi single, Rich Poythress double and Nate Tenbrink's sacrifice fly.

Tacoma combined to collect 10 hits in the contest, with Saunders and Tenbrink each turning in two-hit efforts. Saunders, who is with the Rainiers as part of an MLB rehab assignment, went 2-for-5 with a run, a triple and an RBI.

Thames stretched his team-leading hit streak to 11 games after going 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Franklin has now hit safely in each of his last eight appearances after going 1-for-3.

Starter Jeremy Bonderman (2-1) collected his first win since his final season with the Detroit Tigers in 2010. The right-hander held the 51s to two runs on four hits over 6.0 innings, and walked one with four strikeouts.

Relievers Jhonny Nunez (0.2 IP), Bobby LaFromboise (0.1 IP) and Danny Farquhar (2.0 IP) combined to limit Las Vegas to three hits over 3.0 shutout innings. Farquhar picked up his second save this season following a scoreless effort over the eighth and ninth.

The Rainiers (13-10) look to secure a series sweep in the final game of the team's four-game series at Las Vegas tomorrow, April 28. Left-hander James Paxton (1-2, 6.61) is slated to start for Tacoma against right-hander Chris Schwinden (2-2, 6.75) for the 51s.
