The Providence Bruins took four of a possible four points last weekend to move into second place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 2-1, four points. On Friday in the home opener versus the Worcester Sharks, the P-Bruins got on the board only 1:36 into the game when Jeremy Reich scored short-handed. Ben Walter added a first period goal as well, one of his two points that evening. Providence added an insurance goal in the third period from Martins Karsums on the power play on their way to a 3-1 victory. The P-Bruins followed up their first victory of the season with a 1-0 shutout on the road against the Manchester Monarchs. Brian Finley stopped all 27 shots he faced for his 16th professional shutout, while Matt Lashoff had the game winning goal late in the second period

The P-Bruins return to the ice Friday, October 20 versus Worcester and Saturday, October 21 against Manchester both at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center beginning at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for Friday's and Saturday's games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets. Through the first two weeks the P-Bruins offense has been paced by four rookies and a second year player. Kris Versteeg continues to lead the team in scoring with three assists after recording one Friday night against Worcester. Four players have two points a piece including Petr Kalus, David Krejci, Lashoff and Walter. The P-Bruins have scored at least one power play goal in the first three games and their power play unit ranks sixth in the league converting 25 percent of the time.

The P-Bruins defensive unit rose to the occasion this weekend giving up only one goal in two games. Opponents had only 52 shots on net in the two games combined and went 1 for 11 on the man advantage. After allowing seven goals in the season opener Finley's goals against average has dropped below three.
