The Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons played the front end of a home-and-home series in Springfield on Saturday night, with the Falcons taking a 4-3 overtime decision. Despite the loss, the Bruins picked up a point in the standings and remain tied with the Manchester Monarchs for the North Division lead with their 6-2-2-1 record (15 points).

Providence center Andy Hilbert tallied his sixth goal of the season, while rookie right wing Martin Samuelsson added his fourth and captain Rich Brennan notched his first. Center Matt Herr extended his point streak to a team-season-high five games with an assist. Herr has 3-7-10 totals over that span.

Goaltender Tim Thomas stopped 29 shots in his first loss of the season. His record for the season is now 1-1-0.

The Bruins and Falcons complete the home-and-home series on Sunday afternoon in Providence at 4:05 p.m.
