Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have released forward Ned Lukacevic from his Professional Tryout Agreement. With the move, the P-Bruins have 25 players on their roster, including 15 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.
Lukacevic, 24, returns to the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers after appearing in eight games for Providence. With the P-Bruins, the left wing scored four points, including two goals and two assists. Both of his goals came on March 14 against the Binghamton Senators, earning him second star honors.
At the time of his March 11 recall, Lukacevic ranked seventh in the ECHL with 62 points, including 25 goals and 37 assists in 59 games for Las Vegas. He was also second on the Wranglers in points and tied for first in goals, both career-highs.
The native of Podgorica, Serbia, spent the majority of the 2008-09 season in Providence after being traded by the Philadelphia Flyers with a 2009 conditional draft pick to the Boston Bruins for defenseman Andrew Alberts on October 13, 2008. Lukacevic went on to appear in 52 regular season games for the P-Bruins last season, registering three goals and five assists. He added one assist in eight postseason contests. Lukacevic also suited up for 13 contests with the ECHL's Reading Royals, recording four goals and three assists.
